A new dimension
by Ian MacDonald, general director of the Caspian
Pipeline Consortium.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) is a remarkably successful project -
a tribute to the leadership and vision of the host governments and the determination
and patience of its investors.
Consider these two simple statements of fact:
- In January 2003, a private owned and operated pipeline system transported
its 100th million barrel of oil across international borders in the former
Soviet Union to world export markets.
- The month before, this same private pipeline commenced operation of the
first quality bank system in the former Soviet Union. Last month, the first
payment was made into and out of the quality bank.
