AllMaritim AS of Bergen, Norway – Norway’s leading supplier to the international oil spill response industry celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008.

Backed by its two main manufacturers, NOFI Tromsoe AS and Noren Bergen AS, AllMaritim is well recognized in the international markets. Its products are presently in active use in more than 30 countries. Among them can be mentioned major operators such as PAJ in Japan, KMPRC in Korea, several oil majors in Sakhalin, Russia, Qatar Petroleum, Middle East, the Canadian Coast Guard and ECRC in Canada, US Navy and Coast Guard, SERVS of Alyeska Pipeline, Pemex in Mexico, Petrobras in Brazil, StatoilHydro in Norway, BP in Shetland and Indonesia, Chevron in Nigeria and in nearly all the European countries with ocean boundaries.

AllMaritim prouds itself of a wide range of products, e.g. oil recovery skimmer systems and oil containment booms that have proven themselves not only on glossy, flattering brochures and reference lists but in actual oil spills. Through continuous focus on development from both NOFI Tromsø AS and NOREN Bergen AS, we have managed to enhance the technology and increase the efficiency in oil spill operations in demanding weather conditions.

The latest technology development is the series of "Buster" products that has brought the technology and efficiency to a new level due to its properties when it comes to effective operations in high currents and towing speeds up to as much as 5 knots.

In Paranagua-Brazil, an oil response to recover bunker fuel and diesel after a methanol explosion onboard a tanker back in November 2004 is one of many success stories where the Current Buster has been put into duty

The NOFI Current Buster was activated almost immediately in Paranagua, most specifically because it can contain oil in 3 - 4 times the towing speed compared with conventional oil booms, and as it is extremely well suited for catching oil slicks. Once a slick has been contained in the Current Buster's Separator it will be kept safely inside while the Current Buster chases other slicks - until it is full and the oil is skimmed from the separator.

The NOFI Current Buster represents a technological breakthrough in oil containment due to its capability to function in demanding conditions in fast currents or high towing speeds. The "Front Sweep" herding the oil and the Separator where the oil is safely contained, both contribute to the system's unique features in efficiently containing and controlling oil in high currents or towing speeds. These features also permit the system to cover a larger area without losing the oil contained.

The Current Buster's unique design features made the Paranaqua oil spill response a success.

In a similar manner Noren in Bergen, Norway had embarked upon the development of a reliable and economic offshore skimmer system. This was introduced also in the late nineties as the NorMar Offshore skimmer series with recovery capacities from 100m3/h to 350m3/h.

Today the NorMar series offers a wide range of skimmers in the capacity range from 0 - 350m³, all aiming for the highest throughput in all type oils and with the best cost effectiveness. With the combination of the NorMar Offshore system combined with the NOFI Offshore booms, AllMaritim is one of few international suppliers able to offer a true Offshore oil recovery package.

It was during the "Rocknes" oil spill incident in December 2004 the NorMar 200 system really demonstrated its potential when operation in challenging conditions using the new developed NorMar Multipurpose cassette solution. The operators had to deal with heavy oil, IF 380 bunker, winter time with sea temperature of +3 degrees. However, the NorMar Multipurpose cassette including soft shovel brushes, ment for heavy oils, did a great job recovering 10m³ of oil with only 5% water content.

The NorMar Offshore oil recovery systems are designed to give the operators the greatest flexibility and enhanced operation. This system including the NorMar Multipurpose cassette is probably the only Offshore oil recovery system available enabling the operator to work efficiently in all types of oils due to the choice of either weir, disc or shovel brush skimmer. All systems are verified by either the Norwegian Coastal Administration, SINTEF or by real operations.
