Amodrill Olefin is a synthetic olefin-based mud for onshore drilling that has a lower impact to workers’ health and is more environmentally sound than diesel oil mud.
After two years of drilling trials, primarily at the Noel field in Northeastern
British Columbia, Canada, BP also found that drilling with the olefin produced
truer gauge hole and fewer cuttings.
Recent experience in Oman shows that a fibre optic-based, distributed temperature
sensing system can be a reliable means of monitoring well performance.
