PWS is focusing on expanding organically and by purchases in the North Sea and International by always delivering products rated as #1 by our clients.
At our base in Tananger, Norway, we have our own have R&D department were 20 % of the employees are working. Our main goal is to develop equipment and solutions that is rated as the best products on the marked and to set new standards. 10 % of the revenue is invested back in the R&D for developing new technology and solutions. In addition PWS has developed technology in cooperation and for Clients such as Statoil and BP Norway to name a few. PWS have historical proved to the market that the time from starting a development project to a commercialized product is kept as short as possible.
Our client base is both large and small Oil companies and Service companies such as; Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Talisman, Shell, Exxon Mobil, BP, Conoco Phillips, Marathon, Halliburton, Schlumberger and BJ Services.
PWS will as a part of our growth strategy, expand by open an office in UK by the end of 2006.
In addition to our own developed products we have the agency for several international companies such as Smith Completions, Downhole Products and Davis Lynch for the Norwegian marked. They all deliver products that complement our product portfolio to be able to meet the ever growing marked.
As the marked worldwide is growing rapidly due to the ever increasing energy
demand, the need to use the most efficient solutions for drilling and completing
of a well is crucial due to the extreme cost levels on both equipment and services.
The technology of completing wells has changed over the last years. More challenging
well trajectories together with depleted reservoirs and multiple weak formations
zones are demanding new technology and solutions. Also the discovered fields
are getting more remote from existing installations and sub sea templates are
used to tie in to main process units.
In addition there are new standards required by either Oil companies or the
local governments around the world. This is the reason PWS is focusing on developing
new technology and solutions at the highest level possible.
One of the main areas PWS is focusing on, is on high end barrier solution for cased hole and open hole applications. For the cased hole temporary barrier solutions, PWS is marked leading on our VMB Barrier plug, developed and qualified to the highest level, the ISO 14310 V0 standard.
The ISO 14310 V0 standard requires a product to be tested with gas above and below the barrier/element with both cycling of pressure and temperatures with absolute no leakage.
PWS is the marked leader on the two products which is descried below.
Peak VMB Plug is a retrievable barrier plug that is run on drill pipe and set and released by rotation and weight. It can be used as a temporary well abandon, search for an eventual leak in casings/liners and high volume squeeze jobs. The Peak VMB Barrier Plug is a product that is developed to the highest level demanded by the Norwegian governmental rules and regulations. This is the before described ISO 14310 V0 standard which demands gas tight isolation with absolute zero leakage. The Peak VMB Plug is delivered in sizes 9 5/8”, 9 7/8”, 10 ¾”, 13 3/8” & 14” all classified to the ISO 14310 V0 standards. The Peak VMB Plugs are certified to maximum differential pressure from a range of 5000 psi to 10 800 psi and temperatures as high as 130 deg C depending on size. Peak is currently delivering the VMB Plugs in Norway through contracts with Norsk Hydro, Statoil for the HTHP Kristin field, Shell for the Ormen Lange field and for the Marathon Alvheim field.
Another product developed by Peak is the Peak C-Flex R. The Peak C-Flex R is a High End sliding sleeve port collar installed in the liner/casing for getting access to the annulus after the liner/casing is set and cemented. The sliding sleeve is operated with a cementing tool run on drill pipe. This ensures total control of all fluids pump, which is especially critical when dealing with cement.
A critical point with use of this type of tool is the risk of adding a weak link into the liner/casing with the result of creating leakage or possible burst/collapse of the product.
The mechanical properties of the Peak C-Flex R are the same as the liner/casing it is run in conjunction with. To prevent the sliding sleeve to be prematurely or accidentally opened by casing scrapers, bottom hole assembly etc, there needs to be a force larger than 12 ton to open the Peak C-Flex R. The opening and closing of the sliding sleeve is repeatable with 12 ton opening and 6 ton closing. In our C-Flex R range there is also the option of choosing a version with permanent closed feature. This will ensure that the product can not be accidentally opened after being closed.
As a result of this design and development of quality products, Peak is now a front runner with these types of technologies. Peak is ready to develop equipment and services with customers who see a need for a different product or an enhanced solution for their operations.
Peak Well Solutions AS has always focused on QHSSE and was certified according to EN-ISO 9001:1994 for the first time in January 1997. In January 2003 PEAK was recertified and is now a holder of an EN-ISO 9001:2000 certificate.
