Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

The complete pipeline solution

The solutions offered by WELD-TECH are based on high quality, simplicity, feasibility and a commitment to meet the needs of the customers, which is succeeded through cooperation between other manufacturers within the field of welding machines.

During these cooperations, WELD-TECH uses Miller power sources for its welding machines, of which it has a wide range, as well as tools for pipeline welding and internal line-up Clamps. Other products are pipe facing machines and roller cradles.

In 2005, WELD-TECH introduced three new welding machines to the market for onshore and offshore welding: WT PipeStar, DanStar and DanStar Gold.

WT PipeStar is a typically semi-automatic machine designed for the onshore pipeline industry, but can be adapted for other industries. As a multi process machine, it can be used with FCAW, MCAW and GMAW applications. A hybrid combination of MMA and FCAW is another application, which has been successfully applied in the past. PipeStar can be utilized for narrow gap or modified “J” bevel MIG welding and for flux cored welding processes, allowing for welding in standard 60o bevel. Copper or ceramic backing is necessary when used for “J”-bevel. PipeStar comes with a user friendly programming unit utilizing Micro Processor technology, which will set and save a large number of welding parameters in a dedicated program consisting of the required number of welding passes.
The unique thing about the Programming unit for PipeStar is that only one is needed for one spread and that means that only one person are able to download the welding parameters to each welding unit. The same person can specify how much the welder can variate from the welding parameters downloaded to the welding machine
The construction of the machine itself is really built for the tough environment on an onshore pipeline project by people who have been in the pipeline business for more than 30 years and know what is required to be successful

The DanStar serves mainly the offshore pipeline industry or projects where a light weight machine is required. It is a single head orbital welding machine and can be used with FCAW and GMAW applications. It is easy to use, with flexible design, meaning short training time and familiarization. It is compact, lightweight, solid and robust with a high deposition rate and a low repair rate. It also has the ability to weld all passes and processes with one system.
DanStar comes with a user friendly software for a laptop for setting the welding parameters and then downloading these to the welding machines.

DanStar Gold is a machine designed both for the off- and onshore pipeline industry. It is a multi process welding machine implementing GMAW, PGMAW, MCAW and FCAW welding processes. It can be utilized for narrow gap/modified “J” bevel, standard 60o bevel or any other hybrid combination of welding processes without using either copper or ceramic back-up shoes. The best example of hybrid combination is modified “J” bevel, with wider bevel angle for combination GMAW for root and hot pass and virtually defect free FCAW process for fills and cap welding passes.
In addition, DanStar Gold implements Miller’s new welding process, RMD, to allow for no backing and open gap root welding.
DanStar and DanStar Gold comes with a user friendly remote pendant for manual adjustment of welding parameters. Welding parameters are preset for each welding pass by means of downloading welding parameters using a PC compatible computer.

WELD-TECH complements its portfolio of welding machines with two specialized products: The internal hydraulic line-up clamp “IHP” and PrepStar pipe facing machine.
The “IHP” is a reasonable new development specialized for the pipeline industry, a wireless remote controlled internal line-up clamp. This means that the pump and motor is mounted on the back of the line-up Clamp and it is using 24V batteries that are mounted in front of the clamp. This type has several years background as manual versions in Europe and the Middle East both for carbon steel as well Super Duplex with very good results. One of the benefits is that one clamp can be used for 4 different pipe sizes (For example 42” – 48”) without major modifications.
The special design of the shoes ensure that high/low can be 0,00mm even if the pipes are really out of roundness within the range of clamps from 5” up to 60”.

PrepStar is the latest product to our range of products within the pipeline industry, this is one of the most flexible pipe facing machines on the market at the moment. This machine as standard can do any kind of bevel up to a maximum wall thickness of 25mm but can always be modified to bevel up to 45mm. Power units are either diesel or electrical driven with hydraulic tank of approx. 400 liters to ensure the right flow for clamping and beveling.

Besides the all the products WELD-TECH has developed within the last couple of years, we also have all traditional items like pneumatic line-up clamps, hydraulic mandrels and bending machines.

From January 1, 2006 WELD-TECH has started to rent out all the above including Induction Heating Systems, and have already different items on projects right now to very well known contractors world-wide.
