Karachaganak - the newly emerged giant on the world’s oil and gas map - is one of the largest fields in Kazakhstan.
Huge investments are being made there due to its hydrocarbon reserves: 1.2 billion tons of oil and over 1.3 trillion cubic metres of gas.
Although the field was discovered at the end of the 1970s, large-scale development
and construction at the field started just five years ago after the signing
of the Final Production Sharing Agreement.
